Tips for protecting the oceans
Pepe gives you some useful tips on how you can do your bit to protect the oceans and its inhabitants. We would be delighted if you would try to do your bit together with your parents and your school class. If you have any questions, you can contact us at any time.
1. do not throw garbage into the sea
- Always throw garbage in the garbage can, especially plastic.
- Avoid single-use plastic and use reusable bottles and bags.
2. keep beaches clean
- When you're at the beach, pick up litter lying around.
- Take a bag with you to pick up your own litter.
3. recycle correctly
- Learn how to correctly separate and recycle waste.
- Make sure you put plastic, paper and glass in the right bins.
4. consume consciously
- Buy products with little or no plastic packaging.
- Look out for labels that identify environmentally friendly products.
5. save water
- Turn off the tap while you brush your teeth.
- Take a short shower and don't play with water for too long.
6. learn more about the oceans
- Read books about the sea and its inhabitants.
- Watch documentaries or visit an aquarium to find out more.
7. protect dolphins and other animals
- Observe marine animals from a distance and do not disturb them.
- Do not feed wild animals and keep your distance from them.
8. take part in environmental projects
- Take part in waste collection campaigns or environmental projects in your area. You can also plan and carry out a clean-up campaign with your school class. Talk to your teachers about the topic.
- Tell your friends and family why marine conservation is important.
- Become a member of YAQU PACHA e.V. and protect dolphins and other endangered species.
9. eat sustainable fish species
- Find out which fish species are caught sustainably.
- Try to eat less fish that is overfished.
- Use a fish guide, e.g. that of the WWF, when buying fish.
10. sustainable transportation
- Walk, cycle or use public transport to protect the environment.
These tips help to protect and preserve the oceans and their inhabitants.
