Tips for protecting the oceans
Pepe gives you some useful tips on how you can contribute to protecting the oceans and their inhabitants. We would be delighted if you, your parents, and your school class would try to do your part. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
1. Don't litter in the ocean
– Always put your trash in the trash can, especially plastic.
– Avoid single-use plastic and use reusable bottles and bags.
2. Keep beaches clean
– When you are at the beach, pick up any litter you see.
– Take a bag with you to carry your own litter.
3. Recycle correctly
– Learn how to separate and recycle waste correctly.
– Make sure you put plastic, paper, and glass in the correct bins.
4. Consume consciously
– Buy products with little or no plastic packaging.
– Look for labels that identify environmentally friendly products.
5. Save water
– Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.
– Take short showers and don't play with water for too long.
6. Learn more about the oceans
– Read books about the ocean and its inhabitants.
– Watch documentaries or visit an aquarium to learn more.
7. Protect dolphins and other animals
– Observe marine animals from a distance and do not disturb them.
– Do not feed wild animals and keep your distance from them.
8. Participate in environmental projects
– Take part in litter collection campaigns or environmental projects in your area. You can also plan and carry out a clean-up campaign with your school class. Talk to your teachers about this.
– Tell your friends and family why marine conservation is important.
– Become a member of YAQU PACHA e.V. and protect dolphins and other endangered species.
9. Eat sustainable fish species
– Find out which fish species are caught sustainably.
– Try to eat less fish that is overfished.
– Use a fish guide, e.g. the WWF guide, when buying fish.
10. Sustainable transportation
– Walk, ride your bike, or use public transportation to protect the environment.
These tips will help protect and preserve the oceans and their inhabitants.
