This year, YAQU PACHA was once again represented with information stands at the species conservation days at Duisburg Zoo, Düsseldorf Aquazoo and Karlsruhe Zoo. Numerous visitors took the opportunity to find out directly about our work and the situation of endangered aquatic mammals in South America and Mexico.
The focus was on our projects to protect La Plata dolphins(Pontoporia blainvillei), Lahille's bottlenose dolphins(Tursiops truncatus gephyreus), Amazonian dolphins(Inia geoffrensis), manatees(Trichechus inunguis) and the endangered vaquita(Phocoena sinus). Many guests were surprised to learn how endangered these species are due to bycatch, habitat loss and environmental pollution - and how important international cooperation is in species conservation.
We were particularly pleased with the great interest shown by families and children, who asked questions at our stands, picked up information material and enthusiastically chose our YAQU PACHA cuddly toys. With their purchase, visitors directly support our projects - and at the same time take a piece of species conservation home with them.
The Species Conservation Days are a valuable platform for us to bring people closer to our projects, raise awareness of endangered species and show that species conservation can only succeed if we work together. We would like to thank the teams from Duisburg Zoo, Aquazoo Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe Zoo for the invitation and the excellent organization of these important events.
Many thanks also to the teams at the YAQU PACHA information stands:
