Environmental Education

YAQU PACHA and the environmental education in the protection of species | We work not only in South America, or Latin America to help endangered species, but also to show people how important it is to preserve nature.

Environmental education programs have been promoted by YAQU PACHA for many years in different countries (Brazil, Uruguay and Chile).

YAQU PACHA sees environmental education as the only and most sustainable way to anchor the idea of nature conservation in the population in the long term.

In recent decades, the situation of these people has deteriorated drastically. Hazards such as overfishing, bycatch and increasing contamination of the waters mean that in the long term their jobs are at risk.

The underlying strategy is to inspire people for the natural treasures of their own country through targeted information and the demonstration of natural interrelationships. In its practical implementation, environmental education must address local conditions and the social, cultural and economic circumstances of the people concerned. The main goal of the educational process is to encourage people to act through knowledge.

The environmental education approach includes several levels, such as classes in schools, workshops with teachers, education in the fishing community, and information sessions with the authorities.

We have already carried out an important project together with the Uruguayan government.

In Brazil, we cooperate in species conservation with the team of ECOLOGIA HUMANA DO OCEANO and support their work in environmental education with children and local people.

PROJECT 1 - "Ocean at School" and PROJECT 2 - "Digital Ocean

Anthropic activities in coastal and marine environments cause environmental impacts and the difficulty of managing these environments is discussed worldwide. As a result, scientific and social movements have emerged in recent decades, such as Ocean Culture and the Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development, in addition to Goal 14 - Life in the Water - of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

One of the cornerstones for achieving the goals of these movements in environmental education is the dissemination of the importance of this environment for society. This process can be understood as scientific literacy that allows individuals to make connections with the world around them. In this context, the "Oceano na Escola" project aims to promote environmental awareness in public schools in the state of Espírito Santo in southeastern Brazil, and the "Oceano Digital" project aims to promote digital scientific knowledge about ocean science to the public using social media.

People can get information through Instagram and the YouTube channel of our partners ECOLOGIA HUMANA DO OCEANO to achieve the goal of disseminating ocean culture set by the Decade of the Ocean. Through the dissemination of knowledge, a stronger perception of the environment is developed in different social groups, creating a collective environmental identity of people as part of nature.

Environmental education - environmental education in species conservation is one of the main tasks of YAQU PACHA and we are already active for 30 years in Latin America to help animals and people there. You can support our projects through a donation, membership or our sales items. You can also learn more about our work in our videos.
