In Argentina, a national workshop was held for the first time to protect the critically endangered Lahille's dolphin - one of the world's most endangered dolphin species. This meeting represents historic progress for the conservation of marine mammals in the country and strengthens the joint strategy for the conservation of Tursiops gephyreus.

During the two-day workshop, numerous experts from science, government institutions, ministries, NGOs, the fisheries sector and international partners came together. Intensive specialist presentations, productive discussions and an exceptionally cooperative working environment made it clear how great the joint commitment to the protection of this endangered dolphin species is.

The collective motivation and constructive atmosphere clearly showed that concrete and effective steps are being taken to stabilize and promote the Lahille dolphin population in the long term.

Special thanks go to the Fundación Azara, which organized the workshop in Buenos Aires and is working hard to promote central conservation measures for this species.

We would also like to thank all the experts involved from science, institutions and authorities for their expertise, passion and forward-looking vision.

This workshop laid a crucial foundation stone: the development of a coordinated and science-based roadmap for the coming years, based on international cooperation, solid research and joint conservation strategies. This is an important step for the future of Tursiops gephyreus and the conservation of marine biodiversity in Argentina.
